Protobothrops jerdonii xanthomelas.

(Günther, 1889)

These highly venomous, slender pitvipers are very quick strikers. Coming from the cooler parts of China, they can't be kept in a warm environment. They need a long hibernation period. My animals stop feeding in the end of September, beginning of October. The hibernation lasted for month's until February. The first mating behavior was observed in the last week of March.
